Operinter Andalucia has participated in a meeting with students of the training cycles of International Trade and Transport and Logistics of the IES Isla Verde in Algeciras. The conference, organised by the educational centre, aimed to bring future professionals closer to the sector’s day-to-day life. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the port of Algeciras Bay as well as other companies in the logistics field.
Under the title “Detecting needs and opportunities in the sector” the students were able to raise their doubts and concerns to the professionals. In this sense, Diego Romero, Operinter’s National Deputy Director of Customs and AEO, interacted with the students, who showed their interest in the role of freight forwarders and their importance in international trade. Romero also explained the main services we offer as a first-rate logistics operator for all types of industries.
Dual training
It should be remembered that the higher cycles are dual training. The student develops his studies in alternation between the institute (theory) and the company (practice) from the first year. This differs from the usual itinerary in that first 1,600 hours are done in the institute and then a three-month internship in companies.
Facilitates integration into the company and practical learning, improving the employability of students. In other words, their entry into the world of work.
Port of Algeciras
The meeting also served to highlight the role of the port of Algeciras in the Cadiz region as an economic engine of the region. According to the latest statistics, the enclave moved, last January, 5,9 million tons of general non-containerized goods while via container was just over five million tons. In short, a meeting to trace synergies between the education sector and the world of work in a practical and useful way.
